Pinot Gris (or Grigio in Italy) is the mutant bastard (Oh how we love them!) of the Pinot Noir grape. In fact the DNA, vines, and grape leaves of PInot Noir and PInot Gris are so similar the varietal can only be told apart by the color of the grapes. PInot Gris is an easy wine to drink that can be consumed shortly after fermentation. The flavor profile can be crisp and clean and opened young across the board to full bodied, with a golden color and ripe for aging. PInot Gris is now cultivated worldwide, all across Europe, to Oceania, Africa, and North and South America.
